MWG 7- MASS AND RELATED QUANTITIES
The Metrology Working Group No. 7 “MWG7: Mass and Related Quantities” of the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM) is comprised of 7 metrology sub-working groups (Mass Standards, Density, Pressure & Vacuum, Force & Torque, Hardness, Gravimetry and Material Metrology). Each metrology sub-working group meets periodically to schedule and organize international comparisons, training workshops, preparation of technical guides, among others, in order to provide technical and metrological support to all the countries that comprise the SIM.
The MWG7 is in charge of supporting the CMC of National Metrology Institutes from SIM before Joint Committee of the Regional Metrology Organizations and the BIPM (JCRB), and registers and presents the final Reports of the international comparisons in the Key Comparison Data Base (KCDB).
Science, industry and commerce; as part of the productive activities, frequently perform measurements in mass and related quantities. That is why it is important that the members of MWG7 provide their calibration services using calibrated standards with traceability to the SI.
