Seminar: “Quality Infrastructure for Circular Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean (QI4CE LAC)”

June 10-11, 2021, via zoom, 14:00 – 17:00 UTC

The Quality Infrastructure of the Americas (QICA) organizations, COPANT, IAAC and SIM, want to leverage their technical competencies in metrology, standardization, accreditation, and conformity assessment for the Circular Economy. German development cooperation supports this with a project jointly implemented by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB).

To launch the project “Quality Infrastructure for the Circular Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean”, a seminar will be held on 10 and 11 June. Representatives of the quality infrastructure and actors of the Circular Economic, including representatives of governments, business, and consumer organizations as well as entrepreneurs engaged in the Circular Economic, are invited.

The participants will be informed about the concepts of Quality Infrastructure and Circular Economy, and their interlinkages. For a better understanding case examples will be presented to illustrate the Circular Economy in agri-food, construction as well as plastics and packaging materials. The project team will inform about methodologies how to increase practically the use of QI services for the development of the Circular Economy in the LAC Region and give an outlook on upcoming project activities and ways to get involved also through national projects.
