People who plan to come to a SIM Week event should verify whether they will require a Visa to enter Canada. They can do this here: https://ircc.canada.ca/english/visit/visas.asp
We are in the process of securing an event number for visa purposes. If your wait time is less than 5 months, please wait for our further instructions.
Those who need a Visitor Visa can check their estimated application processing time here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html and select Temporary residence, then Visitor Visa. For the third question, remember this is your country of application, not the country of citizenship. If the estimated processing time is more than 5 months, please write us an email at EventsMetrology-EvenementsMetrologie (at) nrc-cnrc.gc.ca so we can prioritize getting the information to you as soon as possible.
Those who need an ETA can apply some 2 months in advance or earlier. The process is usually fast, sometimes taking as little as a few minutes. Applications can be made here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/eta/apply.html It can sometimes take longer, however. If it happens to you and it takes longer than a few hours, it’s a good idea to check the status of your application by following the “Check application status” button.
